Arsenal are looking to raid the Bundesliga for a solution to their defensive woes, reports the Daily Mirror.

This time, the north London club are preparing to strike a deal with Borussia Dortmund again with Sokratis Papastathopoulos, 29, their target. It’s a move which has the fingers of newly-appointed head of recruitment Sven Mislintat all over it.

Formerly with Dortmund, the German has so far overseen the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, as well as long-time BVB target Konstantinos Mavropanos from Greek side PAS Giannina in January.

Mislintat is making himself a focal point of Arsenal’s transfer business and with Raul Sanellhi joining from Barcelona in February, there is a new dynamic about the Gunners business.

Sokratis has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs in recent years, Manchester United among them.  In summers past, Arsenal were also interested in the Greece international and his former defensive partner Mats Hummels.

The Germany international moved to Bayern Munich and now Dortmund look set to lose Sokratis as well.

Juventus and Chelsea are also looking at the central defender but with their Dortmund links, Arsenal are convinced they are in the driving seat when it comes to snaring their man.
