Alvaro Morata is close to ending his Stamford Bridge hell with a move to Sevilla this winter claims the Daily Mirror.

The Chelsea striker, however, could kill off the Blues hopes of signing Gonzalo Higuain, 31, as his replacement. AC Milan is reluctant to sanction a sale for the player they loan from Juventus with no replacement coming in. Higuain is their top scorer with eight in 20 Serie A appearances with the team currently 5th in the table.

Despite holding an option to make the loan deal permanent, Milan is in no hurry to do so as they continue to struggle with FFP compliance. Having fallen foul of UEFA’s rules last season, the Italian giants call ill-afford to do so again this year.

Morata is a player the Rossoneri considered but with the Andalusian club interested, the tug of home may prove too strong.

Not that the 26-year-old is averse to returning to Italy where he enjoyed a relatively successful season in Turin. However, Maurizio Sarri is reportedly unimpressed with the Spain international’s form.

He didn’t improve his manager’s view when scooped a simple tap-in over the bar from three yards during Chelsea’s 2 – 0 win over Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup this weekend.
