Liverpool have one of the best centre-backs in the world in Virgil van Dijk. However, The Reds haven’t been able to find an adequate partner for him. But that might be about to change since they’re actively looking to sign a centre-back in the upcoming summer transfer window.

In fact, the Merseyside club might have already identified their top transfer target. According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Liverpool are said to be interested in Borussia Monchengladbach star Matthias Ginter. The 25-year-old defender has been with the German club since back in 2017, when he made the jump over from Borussia Dortmund, and he’s widely considered to be one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga.

Ginter even has experience in the German national team since making his debut in 2014. Undoubtedly, he has all the credentials needed to be part of such an ilustrous team as Liverpool.

The Reds are currently in the midst of a Premier League title battle with Manchester City, but even with that being the case, it’s never too early to look ahead to the summer. And even though their defence has looked strong this season, adding a player like Ginter could be what they really need to push them over the top.
