Sunderland have been given encouragement in their pursuit of Adnan Januzaj, 21.
The talented youngster is willing to leave Old Trafford in a permanent move this summer and hasn’t ruled out a reunion with former United boss, David Moyes.
Appointed to the Roker Park hotseat after Sam Allardyce left to become England manager, Moyes is keen to take Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini, 26, to Wearside. The Belgian midfielder’s future is currently on ice as United look to complete the record-breaking signing of Paul Pogba, 23.
The French international is currently holidaying in New York and is set to undergo a medical next week. Protracted negotiations between United and Juventus finally bore fruit last week as the details of the £115m deal were ironed out.
It’s left Moyes waiting on Fellaini but moving ahead with his fellow Belgian Januzaj.
The youngster has failed to realise his potential after he burst onto the scene in 2013. Having made 35 appearances in 2013/14, he has since made only 28 as Louis Van Gaal’s United reign descended into a mire of ordinariness.
He spent the first half of 2015/16 on loan at Borussia Dortmund but was recalled to Old Trafford amid reports of a poor attitude surfaced in the media.
Moyes show of faith in the early part of his career may reap dividends as he looks to strengthen the Black Cats squad.
