Manchester City are expected to complete the signing of Leroy Sane, 20, today.
The German international arrived in the UK at the weekend and spent yesterday at City’s impressive Football Academy. Sane undertook his medical with a five-year deal expected to be signed this morning.
A fee of £37m has been agreed with Schalke 04 with add-ons potentially taking the deal nearer to £40m.
New City boss Pep Guardiola has been tracking the winger since he arrived at the Etihad but talks between the two clubs became protracted.
When Sane made it clear to the hierarchy in Gelsenkirchen that he wanted to leave, Schalke insisted that a replacement be signed before a deal could be finalised. The signing of Breel Embolo, 19, from Basel paved the way for Sane’s departure.
With less than a fortnight to go until the beginning of the Premier League season, City are moving to bring their targets into the fold to allow Guardiola as much time as possible to bed players in.
Sane is his fourth addition this summer, joining Ilkay Gundogan, 25, Nolito, 29, and Zinchenko, 19, at the Etihad. Guardiola is expected to take his spending over £100m with a deal to bring Gabriel Jesus, 19, from Palmeiras expected to be finalised this week.
