Tottenham, Inter Reportedly Looking At Andre Gomes

Andre Gomes’ future in FC Barcelona is far from secure.

The Portugal international does not appear to have a big role going forward for manager Ernesto Valverde, and all signs indicate he is going to leave the Camp Nou outfit in the near future. And with that in mind, Tottenham Hotspur have appeared as an option to end his nightmare spell in Spain.

The 24-year-old midfielder was a target for Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the summer and both clubs were reportedly talking about a deal, but they could not reach an agreement and ultimately talks could not materialise. Things might be different this time, however, as Gomes needs to play if he wants to make the Portugal squad ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

Inter Milan have also been linked with a move for Gomes, though, so Tottenham might have competition. The main difference is the transfer each side would want, however, as the Serie A side are interested on a loan move with an option to buy while the Spurs would want to acquire him on a full-time basis.

Gomes has played just five times this season, and all of his appearances have come off the bench. If that continues, there is no question the Portuguese midfielder will try to leave Barca as soon as possible. And Tottenham certainly appear as a viable alternative.
