Championship Manager, Football Manager, PES, FIFA; a host of games allow fans to play fantasy football from the comfort of their armchairs. Arsenal supporters will be playing it for real if Alexandre Lacazette, 26, has his way.
With most of Europe’s elite clubs lined up to sign Griezmann next summer, the Gunners are low down most people’s list of destinations for one of the world’s most coveted strikers. The bookmakers agree; Arsenal are 12/1 to sign Griezmann in January.
Ahead of them in the list are Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, and Bayern Munich; all of whom are currently able to offer Champions League football and more importantly, a genuine prospect of winning the trophy.
Griezmann joined Atletico in 2014, shortly after they had been beaten by city rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League final. He was a member of the 2016 Atleti side which suffered the same fate, this time on penalties to twist the knife in more cruelly.
Football is littered with strange transfers and while you can never say never, Griezmann to Arsenal is one of the least likely moves for next summer.
