Everton Rule Out Giroud January Bid

Ronald Koeman’s woes continue at Goodison Park with news that Everton will not resurrect their pursuit of Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, 31, reports the Daily Sport.

After the Toffees woeful start to this Premier League, Koeman is desperate to add a striker to his squad having lost Romelu Lukaku, 24. The Belgian international joined Manchester United in the summer and Everton failed to replace him.

Now, with just four goals in their opening seven games, the knives are out for the Dutchman. It resulted in the club’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri giving Koeman the dreaded vote of confidence. Whether the former Southampton boss will be around to sign a new striker in January is open to speculation and bookmakers aren’t convinced that he will.

Despite the return home of Wayne Rooney, the crowd are voicing their displeasure with performances especially with hopes high that the club would push into the top four this season. That is proving elusive with Everton currently hovering above the bottom three.

Giroud meanwhile, goes from strength-to-strength and recorded his 100th goal for the Gunners as they cruised to victory against BATE Borisov in the Europa League. The French international lost his place in the starting line-up to fellow countryman Alexandre Lacazette and is poised for the same battle with Les Bleus.
