There is a lot of uncertainity regarding Arturo Vidal’s future. The one thing that is clear is that he won’t be playing for Bayern Munich next season, but his destination remains unknown.
Until roughly 24 hours ago, it seemed the Chile international was set to return to the Serie A since Inter Milan were interested in him. However, things have changed drastically. Inter Milan are now open to make a move for Luka Modric, and that has left Vidal as the “back-up” alternative in case they can’t land the Croatia international.
Guess which team sneaked right into the middle of the negotiations and could be on his verge of adding a player that seemed set to move elsehwere? Yes, you guessed it. FC Barcelona. It seems as if this is the repetition of what happened with Malcom, who looked set to join AS Roma before Barca joined the negotiations.
This time, Vidal was offered to Barca for a decent price range (around €30 million, per reports) and while the team is far from being close, the talks are progressing smoothly. Vidal wants to join the team, Los Blaugranas would like to add him and, to make things better, he would be a substantial upgrade over other alternatives such as Andre Gomes, Ivan Rakitic and newly-signed Arthur.
Expect this move to be finalised in the coming days. Sure, Inter still have a shot to sign Vidal, but it seems this is Barcelona’s player to lose. And we know they don’t miss these battles often.
