Just like it happened with Dani Ceballos last month, once again FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are set to start a bidding war over one of the hottest players in Europe this summer.
Los Merengues and Los Blaugranas have been looking to add an extra piece to their attack during the entire transfer window, and recent reports from Mundo Deportivo have suggested both sides are interested in a Borussia Dortmund player. And no, we are not talking about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Instead, both teams are tracking Ousmane Dembele.
The 21-year-old winger has seen a meteoric rise to stardom, and went from being a talented prospect to become one of Europe’s most dominant wingers in a 12-month span. Barcelona have always been linked with a move for him, especially now that Neymar is set to leave the club to join PSG.
However, Real have emerged as a potential threat to that move as evidenced in the aforementioned report. In fact, it is believed that Madrid’s chairman Florentino Perez would prefer to sign Dembele over Kylian Mbappe due to the fact he would be cheaper.
Dortmund have rejected offers up to €90 million for the French starlet, but maybe he decides to leave knowing two of the biggest clubs in the world want him. We will have to wait until the end of the month to see how this story unfolds, but it would not be strange to see Dembele plying his trade on Spain in the near future.
