RB Leipzig will be on the verge of losing one of their star players ahead of the 2019-20 Bundesliga season, as top striker Timo Werner will reportedly leave the club before the transfer window closes.
“We would like to get a transfer fee. There are numerous interested parties and top clubs have enquired”, RB Leipzig’s CEO Oliver Mintzlaff said. The chairman has made it clear that they are expecting to sell Werner in the coming weeks.
The youngster has been heavily linked with a move away from Leipzig for quite a long time. But now it seems he’s ready to take the next step in his career. It’s logical to see top sides enquiring for the Germany international since he’s been one of the productive strikers in the Bundesliga in recent years.
It is believed that Bayern Munich are interested in him, although the reigning league champions would prefer to wait until next season to sign Werner where he might be a free agent. Liverpool have also been mentioned as a potential destination, but The Reds are not expected to bolster their attack any time soon.
Werner scored 16 goals in 30 Bundesliga apperances during the 2018-19 season for RB Leipzig. He finished with 19 goals and 10 assists in 37 outings across all competitions.
