Done Deal: Diafra Sakho joins West Brom in £15m transfer

West Bromwich Albion have agreed a £15m fee with West Ham for want-away striker Diafra Sakho, 26.

The Senegalese international is unhappy in east London and his relationship with the club has grown increasingly fractious. Sunderland had an £11m bid rejected earlier in the summer, much to Sakho’s frustration and he subsequently refused to travel to Austria for a pre-season training camp and tour.

The striker missed three months of last season with a thigh injury but struggled to find the net, scoring just five goals in his 20 Premier League appearances.

With Slaven Bilic casting his net far and wide, it is only a matter of time before a new striker arrives at the Olympic Stadium. The Hammers are currently running the rule over Swansea’s Andre Ayew, 26, with a £20m bid being prepared.

Sakho’s arrival at the Hawthorns could prove to be the catalyst for 22 year-old Saido Berahino’s departure. The England international has been linked with Crystal Palace this summer but Stoke City have emerged as his most determined suitors, matching Albion’s £20m valuation.

The deal hinged on Tony Pulis finding a suitable replacement and only personal terms remain to be agreed with Sakho to complete both deals.
