West Ham chairman David Sullivan has told reporters the club has made a £20m transfer bid this week for England international Theo Walcott, 27.
The Arsenal striker has a decision to make after being told he is no longer guaranteed a starting place at the Emirates.
When presenting the transfer package to Walcott’s representatives West Ham have made it clear they see the player as their number one striker, and will look to build the entire attacking line up around him next season.
The Hammers are keen to land two or three marquee signings this summer, as they leave Upton Park and move to their brand new 50,000 capacity Olympic Park stadium.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will leave the final decision up to Walcott, whether he wants a fresh challenge or to stay and fight for his place.
