West Ham have made a £25m transfer bid to sign Liverpool striker Christian Benteke, 25. The Hammers chairman David Sullivan confirmed the bid today when speaking with Sky Sports News reporters ahead of their final game at Upton Park tonight.
The Liverpool and Belgian international has fallen out of favor at the club since new manager Jurgen Klopp’s arrival in October.
Benteke has managed only 8 goals in 26 games since moving to Anfield from Aston Villa last summer for £32m.
Sources close to the player have said he will look to move in the next window in order to restart his career, after Klopp told Benteke he does not see him in his plans for next season.
With West Ham now following up their initial interest with an actual bid, a transfer seems to suit all parties with £25m going along way to recoup what Liverpool spent last year.
