It’s not a secret that Mauro Icardi won’t be playing for Inter Milan once the 2019-20 Serie A season begins next August. The biggest question is where the controversial striker will be featuring.
Icardi had been linked with teams such as Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United in the past, but there’s not a lot of interest in him of late. However, he could very well leave Inter this summer in order to join rival Serie A side AS Roma.
Antonio Conte is keen to sign Edin Dzeko to bolster Inter’s attacking line next season, and one of the potential moves to facilitate the Bosnian’s arrival would be a swap between him and Icardi. The Argentina international would join the Giallorossi, while Dzeko would move to the Giuseppe Meazza outfit.
All signs point towards Icardi leaving Inter sooner than later, though. The Argentinian striker did not join Inter for their Asia pre-season tour, and he also left the club’s pre-season camp in Switzerland amid the transfer rumours surrounding him. Plus, he is not going to be the captain of the club as he had been in past years.
The 26-year-old, who joined Inter from Sampdoria in 2013, scored 17 goals in 37 appearances for the Serie A side during the 2018/19 campaign.
