Despite losing the Champions League final narrowly on penalties to bitter rivals Real, Atletico Madrid are already making plans for next season, linked for a shock move for former striker Diego Costa, 27.
With manager Diego Simone keen to strengthen his attacking line up for the new campaign, he see’s Costa as the ideal attacker to bring back to the club for a second time.
During his first spell with the club Costa scored 43 goals in 94 games, which earned him a £32m move to Chelsea. Despite a fantastic first season with the Blues, the player is thought to of grown tired with life in London and wants a return to the La Liga.
It remains to be see whether or not Chelsea would even entertain letting their star striker leave the club. With incoming boss Antonio Conte busy with Italy’s European Championship campaign, the matter will not be resolved either way until Conte takes over at Chelsea on August 1st.
