PSG are in dire need of attacking reinforcements to replace Neymar. The Brazilian will miss roughly 10 games and around two-and-a-half months with a second injury to the fifth metatarsal in his right foot in as many years.

Ergo, the Ligue 1 champions are moving quickly to find a potential replacement and even though several names were linked to them, they are reportedly set to complete a move to sign Luciano Acosta, from DC United. Yes, that’s not a typo.

Utilising good relations with recent signing Leandro Paredes’ agent Mattias Sabbag, PSG didn’t waste time to agree to a deal with the MLS franchise, while also agreeing personal terms with the player. It is believe that PSG wil pay under €10 million, which is quite a bargain considering the kind of player Acosta is.

Able to play all over the attacking third but at his best when operating as a creative winger, Acosta should be able to fill the void left by Neymar although it remains to be seen whether he will have enough playing time. Names such as Angel Di Maria, Christopher Nkunku and Julian Draxler will also be vying for playing time.

Acosta had a breakout season last year, finishing second in the league with 17 assists while also earning seventh place in the MLS MVP voting.
