Arsenal proved to the busiest of the Premier League’s big clubs with a host of fringe players leaving on loan spells. After signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 28, and selling Olivier Giroud, 31, they released 32-year-old Mathieu Debuchy on a free transfer and the right back subsequently moved to Saint-Etienne.

Striker Chuba Akpom, 22, has barely featured for the first team this season and will finish the campaign with Belgian club Sint-Truidense, who currently sit in sixth place in the Pro League.

Midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide, 20, is a player for whom supporters have high hopes. However, injuries curtailed his progress and a loan spell to Angers SCO for the remainder of the season was agreed today.

A France Under-19 international, Reine-Adelaide joined Arsenal from Lens in 2015 and featured eight times for the Gunners since then.

The final youngster on the move is 20-year-old Poland Under-19 international, Krystian Bielik, 20. The impressive centre-back has moved to League One Walsall for the remainder of the season.

The Saddlers enquired about Bielik early in the transfer window and to the delight of boss Jon Whitney, the Gunners relented to allow the move to go ahead. Walsall are currently embroiled in the relegation battle at the foot of League One, sitting 18th in the table.
