Atletico Madrid are considering an approach for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder and Belgium international Thorgan Hazard. The rumours come straight from Germany, as one of the most popular outlets, Sport Bild, delivered the news during the past few hours.
This seems like the perfect moment for Borussia to cash in on Hazard’s impressive form. With only 18 months left on his current deal, Borussia would be wise to part ways with him at risk of losing him for nothing in 2020.
It has been rumoured that Hazard would join the side as the direct replacement of Thomas Lemar, who hasn’t been able to settle as expected with Los Colchoneros since coming from AS Monaco during the past summer.
This is not the first time Hazard is linked with a move to La Liga, though. The Belgian has previously been linked to Sevilla and Valencia, but he has now emerged as a prime transfer target for Los Rojiblancos. Undoubtedly he would add some much-needed creativity in the final third for Diego Simeone’s side.
The Belgian international is currently going through the best form of his young career. Playing for a surprisingly good Monchengladbach side in the Bundesliga, Eden Hazard’s little brother has already netted 11 goals while delivering six assists in only 14 appearances (in all competitions) this season.
