It took them a while, but the move is bound to happen. And Sevilla are close to land the central defender they have been pursuing during the entire summer.
According to a report from MARCA, Sevilla are details away from securing a move for Simon Kjaer, Denmark’s central defender who plays for Fenerbahce. Details are not completely confirmed, but the Liga are set to land the coveted centre back barring a complete meltdown in the negotiations.
In fact, neither club have confirmed the deal, but both parties have acknowledged that the move is “close to be completed”. And all signs indicate Monday would be the key date to finalise the transfer.
The 28-year-old Denmark international spent the last season with Fenerbahce, and has been playing in Turkey since the 2015-16 campaign. He has also played for AS Roma, Palermo, Wolfsburg and Lille, so this would be his first stint in La Liga.
Kjaer would reportedly sign a four-year contract with Sevilla after passing a medical, and he is set to become the sixth signing of the summer for the club. They previously acquired Nolito, Luis Muriel, Ever Banega, Guido Pizarro and Sebastien Corchia, and are details away from signing Jesus Navas as well.
