German football’s fascination with English starlets shows no sign of abating with Arsenal prodigy Emile Smith Rowe, 18, the latest to dip his toes in Bundesliga waters reports the Independent.

The midfielder will spend the rest of this season with RB Leipzig the club announced. At the same time, Arsenal completed the signing of Denis Suarez, 24, from Barcelona in a €2m loan deal.

Smith Rowe flew to Germany for a medical this afternoon with the deal expected to be concluded tomorrow. He wasn’t alone. Reports suggest Eddie Nketiah, 19, is heading to Augsburg before the transfer window closes.

Having seen the success of Reiss Nelson, 18, at Hoffenheim this season, the Gunners are keen for the prodigious talent of Smith Rowe to develop ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

Nelson is producing eye-catching performances for Die Kraichgauer as they recovered from a slow start to rise to sixth with a 4 – 2 win at Freiburg last weekend.

Reports of his performances have Gunners fans hoping he returns in the summer, fired-up for the new campaign. The hope is that Smith Rowe will show the same adaptability and be part of the Gunners rebirth.

The club itself is suffering from missing out on Champions League revenues and is relying on the talented youths coming through the academy.

You can’t win anything with kids, Alan Hansen opined once. Arsenal are going to have to.
