Manchester City Make Sanchez Move, Odds Slashed to 1/2 On!

The least surprising move of the summer will be Alexis Sanchez signing for Manchester City. That took a step closer to happening after reports on Sunday night claimed that the 28-year-old striker’s agent informed Arsenal that the player would not sign a new deal under any circumstances.

It was a hammer blow to Arsene Wenger’s claims that he hoped to persuade the mercurial striker to sign a new deal.

This morning, City acted on that and offered the Gunners Raheem Sterling, 22, in part-exchange as well as Fabian Delph, 27. It’s understood that Arsenal passed on the former England midfielder but are keen on bringing Sterling to the Emirates, reports the Daily Mail.

Bookmakers reacted quickly and the odds on Sanchez joining Manchester City this summer fell to 1/2 on. City are the only realistic buyers left for the striker after both Bayern Munich and Paris St Germain dropped out once Sanchez’s wage demands were revealed. Sanchez rejected a £300k per week offer from Arsenal.

Chilean broadcaster T13, aired claims that Sanchez requested to be omitted from Thursday’s World Cup Qualifier against Paraguay so that his future can be resolved. Sanchez cut a forlorn figure on Sunday as Arsenal capitulated at Anfield and the 0 – 4 defeat was the final straw in his decision to leave.
