The transfer market in the Spanish Primera Division has not been as active as it has been in recent years, but Atletico Madrid have done a good job to strengthen their side ahead of the 2018-19 season. Los Colchoneros might have a revamped attacking line after the arrivals of two interesting players such as Thomas Lemar and Gelson Martins.

However, Diego Pablo Simeone is not done in the market and wants to add at least one more attacker. And he has posed his eyes on a player who knows very well… literally. According to several reports in both Italian and Spanish media, Simeone wants to sign his son, Giovanni Simeone, from Fiorentina.

Apparently, Los Colchoneros are serious on their approach to acquire the 23-year-old Fiorentina forward, as Atletico’s chairman, Enrique Cerezo, reportedly submitted a €40 million bid for the Argentinian services. Fiorentina did not bite, however, and rejected that approach since they are keen to receive a bit more money in case they decide to part ways with their most important forward.

Simeone is quite keen on adding his son to the side, but right now talks are dead. The 23-year-old forward has enough to merits to move from Fiorentina to Atletico even if he wasn’t the manager’s son, though; he registered 14 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions for the Viola side during last season. Will he remain in Italy, or will he end up playing under his dad’s orders? We will have to wait a few details to know the outcome of this story.
