Alexis Sanchez’s future is shrouded in doubt, even down to the date he will return to training! The 28-year-old posted photos on his social media account which depicted that he was unwell, leaving Arsene Wenger to clarify that the Chilean remained in homeland and will travel as soon as he is well enough.

Speaking after Arsenal thrashed Benfica 5 – 2 in the Emirates Cup in north London, Wenger declared the situation remained the same, according to Arsenal.com. The Frenchman has been steadfast about the player; he will see out the final year of his contract, with the ambition that the club secure his services for another five seasons.

Whether Sanchez agrees isn’t known. He has been evasive over his future while Wenger refused to divulge the contents of the pair’s conversations, claiming they were secret,

While Bayern Munich, Juventus and PSG flirted with the player over a prospective move, Manchester City resolutely remain Alexis’ first choice. Claudio Bravo, 35, claimed in the Chilean press that Sanchez would be welcomed at the Etihad with “open arms”.

The Daily Mail also reported that City were now prepared to pay Alexis £320,000 per week, meeting his wage demands and exceeding Arsenal’s best offer.

The summer as far as this deal is concerned, is far from over.
