Ever Banega will return home to Sevilla, as the club has confirmed his arrival on a three-year deal following the completion of the corresponding medical exams in the coming days.
The Argentinian playmaker spent last season with Inter Milan, but prior to that he spent two years with Sevilla where he became one of the most effective playmakers in La Liga. He returns to Sanchez Pizjuan on a three-year deal and even though he will not receive the amount of money he was earning in Italy, he will remain as one of the highest wages in the squad.
Sevilla’s sporting director Oscar Arias practically confirmed the deal speaking with Radio Sevilla this Tuesday night, as he said the 28-year-old’s arrival was something the club “was working on” and that they were hoping to seal it “as soon as possible.”
The arrival of Banega not only should improve the side, but it might pave the way for a potential departure of Steven N’Zonzi. Several clubs have expressed interest in the French defensive midfielder, and since Banega can fill his role adequately, the former Stoke City player could leave for greener pastures. After all, Sevilla could use the money to strengthen the side even more.
Banega’s arrival, however, is certainly a step in the right direction. The Argentinian midfielder registered six goals and eight assists in 28 Serie A appearances for Inter last season.
