Eden Hazard continues to get heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea once the current season ends. And while The Blues are against the idea of losing the Belgian superstar, they already looking to potential alternatives for a replacement.
After refusing (once again) a departure during the summer, manager Maurizio Sarri knows there’s no time to waste when losing someone like Hazard. And apparently, the former Napoli tactician has set his sights on Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic as a direct replacement for the Belgian.
The Blues are reportedly ready to fork out €75 million in January and the Mirror reports contact has already been established with Borussia Dortmund. However, things might not be as easy as they sound. Dortmund already said they are not going to let Pulisic leave midway into the season, and who knows whether they will be ready to accept an offer next summer.
However, Pulisic only has 18 months left in his current deal with the Bundesliga powerhouse. They might be insisting on keeping him for the long run, but there’s no point on hanging on to him if he can leave the club as a free agent after the 2019/20. In that scenario, the best idea would be to sell him during the upcoming summer.
Expect Chelsea to be heavily involved in his pursuit.
