FC Barcelona have a serious lack of depth at centre-back, and they need to make a move soon to avoid problems in the near future.
Los Blaugranas currently have Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique as starters, while Javier Mascherano and Thomas Vermaelen are backups. They want to add at least one more piece since Mascherano and Vermaelen could leave the squad soon, and Leonardo Bonucci has emerged as the team’s latest target.
Los Blaugranas are keen to make a push for the Rossoneri defender, who has not been able to be on his best form since joining Milan from Serie A rivals Juventus during the summer. Barca have been on the market for quite a while, and Bonucci would be a great addition to the side since he is widely considered one of the best defenders in the world right now.
Bonucci has struggled to find his best form at AC Milan following his move from Juve, but recent reports have suggested Barca are not scared of that, and that they are keen to meet whatever Milan wants in order to land the star centre-back. Although it won’t be easy for Barca, since Real Madrid are also reportedly interested in Bonucci as a potential January signing.
Bonucci joined Milan from Juve on a staggering €42 million fee this past summer. He has registered 19 appearances this season across all competitions, and has already emerged as Milan’s most important defender. Will they let him go considering the interest of the two Spanish giants?
