Alexis Sanchez is open to staying at Arsenal, according to the Daily Star on Sunday.

If a deal isn’t agreed this summer, the Arsenal forward can walk away on a free transfer, claiming a massive signing-on fee as well as huge salary.

And with Arsene Wenger desperate to retain Sanchez, the prospect of the club agreeing to a staggering £400,000 per week contract increases.

Set to make his first appearance of the season at Anfield this afternoon, Alexis knows Wenger’s position is on a knife-edge with supporters criticising the Frenchman for his failure to strengthen the squad to the extent that Sanchez is demanding the incredible salary to stay in north London.

However, the Gunners performance at Anfield this afternoon casts a huge shadow over negotiations. £400k per week after their capitulation to Liverpool may not be enough after all…
