While the British media wonders when Spurs will sell Kyle Walker anf if they are looking to shift Harry Kane to somewhere else to pay for the new stadium, Mauricio Pochettino is all about getting new blood in.
Adrien Silva, a member of Portugal’s 2016 European Championship winning squad, is high on the Argentinean’s hit list and Sporting Lisbon are willing to listen to offers.
According to the Portuguese media, as reported by the Daily Star, Silva has a €39.5m release clause but Sporting are willing to talk at €25m. In an over-inflated transfer market, the club hailing from the Portuguese capital are intent on reaching agreements rather than haggling.
Silva, the Sporting club captain, was thought to have secured a move away last summer but is now capturing the attention of bigger fish in the European pond.
Spurs need help. Last season’s Champions League campaign was nothing short of disastrous and with Wembley once more their home ground, the Lilywhites must perform better or once again face the ignominy of dropping into the Europa League.
With Silva’s history of winning trophies, his influence in the dressing room could prove decisive. Too often in recent decades, Spurs have been found wanting when major trophies beckon. If they don’t take their chance now, they never will.
