Joshua Kimmich has created a name for himself as one of the most versatile players in Europe. The Bayern Munich star can fill a number of roles on both ends of the pitch, and it’s common to see him alternative between right-back, central midfielder, and defensive midfielder.

Bayern Munich love that versatility, and they are keen to extend the current deal of the German international. The 22-year-old is under contract until 2020, but Bayern want to put the negotiations on the fast track since both FC Barcelona and Manchester City have expressed interest in the player.

Kimmich currently earns a €3 million salary per season, but he would increase his earnings on a substantial basis while extending his deal until the summer of 2023. This is not the first time Bayern want to extend Kimmich’s deal, though, and the player’s agent, Uli Ferber, said there were talks about a potential extension a few months ago. Both parties are slated to talk again during the year, but there might not be anything sealed until the end of the current season.

Kimmich has spent most of the current season as a right-back, but he plays a big role on Bayern’s attacking scheme under Jupp Heynckes. He already has one goal and five assists during the current Bundesliga campaign, while adding two goals and one assist during the UEFA Champions League run.
