Mauro Icardi might remain under contract at Inter Milan, but all signs indicate that the Argentinian forward won’t be with the squad past this season. Inter know it, Icardi knows it and, by now, it’s something that everybody agrees on. The relationship between both parties became too toxic to maintain it going forward.
With that in mind, Icardi is now considering what will be the next step of his career. Teams such as Manchester United and Chelsea have wanted him for quite a while, but it seems Icardi’s preference would be to remain in Italy. Therefore, he has reduced his potential alternatives to only two sides: Napoli and Juventus.
The Old Lady currently have Cristiano Ronaldo as their main attacking threat, but they lack a true striker (aside from Mario Mandzukic) and Icardi would be a fantasic addition. The same could be said regarding Napoli, as Icardi would represent a massive upgrade over names such as Dries Mertens and Arkadiusz Milik.
Both Juventus and Napoli had been credited with an interest in Icardi in the past but it remains to be seen whether they will pursue the opportunity to sign him in the summer. But all the signs are leaning towards that direction.
