The 21-year-old Spain Under-21 international is frustrated as he struggles to cement a place in Los Blancos starting line-up. Despite making 18 appearances this season and scoring twice in La Liga, Ceballos frequently starts from the bench.
Born in Sevilla, he was a regular starter for Real Betis prior to his move to the Bernabeu last summer. He registered 105 appearances for Los Verdiblancos, only 31 were off the bench and having got the taste for first-team football, his patience is wearing thin. Ceballos recently missed four matches due to an ankle injury but has been restricted to seven starts, mainly in the Copa Del Rey.
Reports in Spain claim Ceballos told the Real president of his desire to move to Anfield although the Reds can be sure they will face competition from some of European football’s elite if the midfielder becomes available.
With some of Real’s biggest names linked with moves away from the Spanish capital this summer, Perez and head coach Zinedine Zidane are reluctant to accede to Ceballos’ request at the moment. Manchester United are interested in Toni Kroos, 28, while Luca Modric, 34, has been told he can leave the Bernabeu as well.
