Manchester United have been one of the hottest teams in Europe this season. The Red Devils share the top of the Premier League standings with Manchester United, have only allowed two goals in the current season, and have been clicking on all cylinders of late.
That is why they can’t allow to lose important players in the near future, and especially not in the January transfer window. Therefore, they are set to offer David De Gea a new contract to eliminate the chances of a potential move to Real Madrid.
Los Blancos did not start the season on a positive note, and have stumbled to start their Liga season. Keylor Navas is certainly not the one to blame due to Madrid’s poor start to the campaign, but Los Blancos have been long-time admirers of De Gea. And they would be keen to sign the Spain international as soon as the chance arises.
De Gea was seconds away from joining Real Madrid two years ago, but a dodgy fax incident that has never been cleared out kept him at Old Trafford. And considering De Gea’s recent form, there is no question he deserves a raise and a new deal. The Spaniard’s current deal expires in the summer of 2019, so United must act quickly if they want to keep their star goalkeeper on the team for the foreseeable future.
Jose Mourinho does not want to risk losing his No. 1 and is keen to get him to sign an extension by the start of the new year. Now the management needs to do everything they can to keep De Gea as a United member as long as they can.
