With only a few days before the transfer window shuts, it seems clear Kylian Mbappe will not play for AS Monaco anymore.
The 18-year-old wonderkid remains on the verge of completing his move to PSG. With both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona out of the race to land him, it seems it’s either PSG or bust for the forward. Although according to an anonymous source close to the deal, the move is “close to completion”.
In the end, PSG will pay a around €150m, and the deal is now more or less set. But they will also add a player into the mix, because they need to offset a few names in order to comply with the Financial Fair Play rules.
Based on recent reports, Lucas Moura would be the one leaving Paris for Monaco. But that has not been set on stone yet, as Monaco’s manager Leonardo Jardim is keeping a close eye on Goncalo Guedes, who was set to join Valencia on a season-long loan deal until a few days ago.
Mbappe was called-up by Didier Deschamps for France’s upcoming World Cup qualifying clashes against Netherlands and Luxembourg, but no one could blame him if he has other things on his mind. He has until Monday’s meeting at Clairefontaine to sign the five-year contract that awaits him at Parc des Princes.
And unless something extraordinary happens, we can hope to see the talented wonderkid featuring alongside Neymar and Edinson Cavani sooner than later.
