Liverpool are ready to fend off Real Madrid interest in Mo Salah by offering the winger a new contract worth £200,000 per week, according to the Sunday Mirror.

With 32-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo’s future still undecided, the Spanish champions are preparing to bring in a proven-goalscorer, and having set both Serie A and the Premier League alight, the Egyptian international ticks that box.

Salah at 25, is enjoying a stunning first season at Anfield and is enthusiastic about his future. “I like the Premier League. It suits my style and I love playing here.” 36 goals in 40 appearances underline just how much it “suits [his] style”.

Coincidentally, Salah and Ronaldo both scored in Portugal’s 2 – 1 win over Egypt in Zurich last week.

With Gareth Bale, 29, hotly tipped to leave the Bernabeu this summer, Real are in need of a major signing to restore their credibility with fans after a hugely disappointing season.

It began promisingly with the destruction of hated-rivals Barcelona in the Supercopa but quickly crashed, to the point that Zinedine Zidane’s future is openly talked about.

The Catalans are odds-on to reclaim the title while many consider them to be favourites for the Champions League as well.

Salah is the type of signing which will excite fans but with Liverpool intent on challenging for next season’s Premier League title, Real’s chances of successfully luring him away from Anfield are remote at best.
