La Liga outfit Sevilla have agreed a fee with the Welsh club for the midfielder to move to the Sanchez Pizjuan for the remainder of the season. It comes less than six months after Mesa joined the club in a £11m deal from Las Palmas.
Despite the hefty fee by the club’s standards, the uncapped Spaniard has failed to impress in his 16 appearances for the club so far this season. In this time, he has grabbed three yellow cards but no goals for the Swans, who despite an upturn in their form remain bottom of the Premier League table.
The 1 – 0 win over Liverpool last weekend brought them level with West Bromwich Albion and just three points from safety. Swansea’s goal difference is currently worse than all bar Stoke City and Huddersfield Town in the relegation fight.
Sevilla are sixth in the Primera Division and face Manchester United in the last sixteen of the Champions League. New coach Vincenzo Montella is keen to add depth to his midfield with these two major challenges on his hands, as well as a Copa del Rey semi-final to contend with.
