Inter Milan are having a better-than-expected season in the Serie A during the current term. They might be coming off a surprising loss against Sassuolo, but there is no doubt they have surpassed expectations thus far.
One would think manager Luciano Spalletti would try to keep the squad as it is during the January transfer window, but there have been rumours of a potential arrival and departure at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. Henrikh Mkhitaryan might join the side during the upcoming transfer window, while Milan Skriniar is a reported target for one of the best teams in Europe.
The potential arrival of the Armenia international was first reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, as the former Dortmund playmaker does not have much a role at Manchester United anymore, and Inter would be keen to acquire him on loan for the remainder of the season. The 28-year-old would increase the depth in midfield, and would represent a more attacking-minded option than players such as Borja Valero and even Joao Mario.
Manchester United want £35 million for the attacking midfielder, but Inter are only willing to take him on loan in the winter window.
Meanwhile, Manchester City have been linked with a move for Milan Skriniar, as the Citizens rate the Slovakian highly enough to make him the team’s top target. The Express reported that the former Sampdoria star is Pep Guardiola’s first alternative over other options such as Virgil van Dijk and Jonny Evans. Skriniar has played a key role for an Inter side that has allowed just 14 goals in the Serie A this season.
The 22-year-old Skriniar joined the team only a few months ago on a €23M move from Sampdoria and his contract runs out in 2022 so City would have to make a substantial offer for Inter to even consider it.
