Premier League leaders Liverpool joined Bayern Munich in the race to sign Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, claims Bild.

The 18-year-old rejected a £75,000-per-week contract offer from the Blues with his eyes looking towards the success of his peers Reiss Nelson, 18, at Hoffenheim and Jadon Sancho, also 18, who rose to the England senior team after a series of scintillating displays for Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern isn’t the only Bundesliga club interested in Hudson-Odoi with Bild claiming RB Leipzig also contacted his family to discuss a move to Germany.

However, it is the interest of Liverpool will send shivers down Chelsea spines. The Reds, currently showing no sign of fading in the title race, offer the dismal prospect of a prodigious talent disappearing to a bitter rival.

It leaves Chelsea in an invidious position. Hudson-Odoi is out of contract in 2020 and can leave the club for a minimal fee in eighteen months’ time. Selling now to Bayern Munich may hold more appeal for the West London club than losing a star talent to a domestic rival.

An added twist comes with Bayern facing Liverpool in the Champions League Round of Sixteen next month. Will Hudson-Odoi be lining up for either side at Anfield in the first leg?
