Edin Dzeko remains as Chelsea‘s prefered target to bolster their attacking line. Manager Antonio Conte is keen to add a target man to the squad, and the AS Roma star is the top option available on the January transfer market.
However, the Bosnian’s move to Stamford Bridge has apparently taken a hit in recent hours. According to a report from Sky Sports Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, the reigning English Premier League champions have not agreed on a transfer fee with Roma, and they are also yet to agree on bonuses after the contract.
The same report indicated that both sides are still talking, and Chelsea are willing to go the extra mile to sign the former Manchester City striker. The presence of Michy Batshuayi as part of the deal is unclear as well, as Roma would be keen to get the Belgian striker back in order to fill the void potentially left by Dzeko.
The expected deal would also include left-back Emerson Palmeiri, as the Brazilian would add some much-needed depth and competition for the left-wing back role considering the team does not have another viable alternative aside from Marcos Alonso.
A deal is expected to be either completed or scrapped following Roma’s match against Sampdoria this Wednesday.
