Borussia Dortmund are already trying to figure out how they will fill the void left by Christian Pulisic, who will leave the Bundesliga giants for Chelsea during the upcoming summer. And while several alternatives have been discussed, The Yellow Bees already have a player identified as their top target.
According to a report from Bild, Dortmund believe Crystal Palace’s winger Wilfried Zaha is the man they want to step into Pulisic’s shoes. The interest of Dortmund in Zaha isn’t new, though, as they had made an approach for him last year. The deal at that time was a swap between the Ivorian and Jadon Sancho, but the conditions of the deal are expected to be different this time around.
With Pulisic set to leave and Dortmund needing an attacking threat to replace him, Zaha would seem like one of the best choices available. The Ivory Coast international can play all over the attacking third, and his pace could be a game-changer at the Bundesliga level. Needless to say, an attacking trio with Sancho, Zaha and Marco Reus could create havoc on opposing defences.
It remains to be seen whether Palace would be open to part ways with Zaha, though, since the Ivorian is far and away their most important player. But even if they don’t make a move for him this winter, they could easily approach once again during the summer ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
