Arsenal will successfully end their pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez this week according to talkSPORT.

The 25-year-old set Gooner hearts racing when he responded to Alexandre Lacazette’s Instagram post celebrating the Gunners 2 – 0 win over Chelsea on Saturday evening:

Lacazette, scorer of Arsenal’s opening goal, mocked the talk of a crisis at the club following a run of three defeats in six games. The Gunners are, however, unbeaten at home since the opening day in the Premier League season.

Despite being linked with a move to North London before Christmas, Suarez remains in Catalunya where he is sidelined as Barcelona avoid triggering a £1m milestone payment to Manchester City following his 2013 transfer to the Camp Nou.

Arsenal are hamstrung by Financial Fair Play regulations and cannot make the permanent deal Barcelona are holding out for. Unai Emery, however, is keen to reunite with a player who shone under his tutelage at Sevilla.

Suarez is understood to be keen to move to the Emirates after failing to cement a place in the Blaugrana first XI. Since the Catalans signed him, Suarez made more appearances for Sevilla and Villarreal combined than the total games played for Barcelona and the Barcelona ‘B’ side.
