Claudio Marchisio is set to continue playing in one of the top leagues in Europe.
After leaving Juventus following a 25-year stint with The Old Lady that included him moving through the youth ranks of the franchise, now the 32-year-old Italian playmaker is reportedly close to complete a move to AS Monaco, according to Tuttosport.
Several top clubs have emerged as potential destinations for Marchisio, since he’s only looking for first-team football and many teams could use his quality and wealth of experience. Apparently Monaco believe that as well, and both parties are quite close to agree on a deal. The Ligue 1 giants could certainly use a player with his qualities.
Monaco lost both Fabinho and Joao Moutinho during this summer, as both players departed to the Premier League in order to join Liverpool and Wolverhampton, respectively. Marchisio could be a great replacement for Moutinho, although his defensive qualities could also allow him to take Fabinho’s role from time to time.
, Claudio Marchisio is on the verge of completing his move to Monaco. The 32-year-old Italian spent 25 years on the books with Juventus before leaving a few weeks ago, in search of first team football. Monaco are currently 5th in Ligue 1 after registering a win and a draw, with a series of big games coming up over the next few weeks in the form of Bordeaux, Marseille and Toulouse. Adding Marchisio to the mix would certainly make the team stronger going forward.
