Manchester United are set to complete their first signing of the summer with Benfica midfielder Talisca heading to Old Trafford according to the Daily Star.

Senol Gunes, manager at Besiktas where the 24-year-old spent the past two seasons, confirmed his departure was on the cards and backing claims from Turkish journalists that United had secured a preliminary agreement with the player to move to Old Trafford.

“Talisca was already gone at the winter break. I’m sorry that he won’t be with us any longer. I wish he could stay for his sake and ours. He already had a deal in place.”

Talisca scored 20 goals in 47 games this season and was previously linked with a move to Liverpool or Wolves. He posted a video on Instagram confirming his departure from the Super Lig club:

“Everything and everyone that has passed through my life in these last two seasons will be marked forever in my heart,” he wrote.

“Thank you, God! Thank you, Turkey! Thank you, Besiktas! I will be an eternal Black Eagle flying around the world and cheering for everyone!”

The opportunity to work with Jose Mourinho was a big motivator in his decision he revealed.

His dream will come true as soon as United agree a fee with Benfica.
