The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the red half of north London in January, but Arsenal took Henrikh Mkhitaryan, 27, in exchange for Alexis Sanchez, 30, instead. Tottenham are long-term admirers of the Brazil Under-23 international.
Bayern Munich are also reported to be tracking the former Corinthians star. With nine goals this season, the winger is set to record his best season in front of goal. It’s form which is drawing scouts to the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux, with French champions Paris St-Germain almost inevitably added to the list of suitors.
Nicolas de Tavernost, president of Bordeaux’s owners, the M6 group, told the company’s AGM that Malcom will almost certainly leave this summer and that was always the case.
Bizarrely, he chose not to name the winger even though it is obvious to whom he was referring.
“There is a major player from Brazil who you know wants to leave the club and we will do that in all of our interests,” he said.
“It is the reason we bought this player in the first place, to eventually sell him in between seasons.”
That news will fuel speculation, as will reports from Malcom’s native Brazil that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino impressed the winger’s agents when they met during the last transfer window.
