Chelsea have been one of the most active teams in the transfer market when it comes to signing new players. However, they are yet to announce a single move during the current January transfer window.

However, The Blues are doing their due diligence on two players, as they are keen to make a double deal with AS Roma. Per several reports, Chelsea want to sign both Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri, as a way to strengthen the side looking towards the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Champions League (even though neither Roma player would be eligible to play).

Chelsea’s boss Antonio Conte is keen to add another striker to the team with the potential exit of Michy Batshuayi leaving the side. And the arrival of Emerson would provide some much-needed coverage and competition on the left-wing back role, as no player in the current has been able to fight with Marcos Alonso for the starting role.

Chelsea are ready to pay €50 million (around £44M) for the duo, and the idea would be for Roma to part ways with both players before the current transfer window ends. Chelsea want them now, not over the course of the summer.

Dzeko has been in impressive form for Roma this season, netting 12 goals including a huge strike against Chelsea during the Champions League group stage a few months ago. He was the top scorer in the Serie A last season, finishing with 29 goals and playing a key role as Roma ended in second place in 2016-17.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian Palmieri would be an excellent alternative for Marcos Alonso, and Roma might very well part ways with him since he has struggled to secure a starting role since joining from Santos in 2015.
