Wilshere Set For Arsenal Departure

Crystal Palace manager Frank de Boer is looking to succeed where Alan Pardew couldn’t and take Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere to Selhurst Park.

The 25-year-old England international is on the cusp of a return to fitness after injury curtailed his loan spell at Bournemouth last season. The Daily Mirror claims that de Boer is keen to take Wilshere on a season-long loan deal rather than a permanent move so that his fitness can be fully assessed.

Arsenal are prepared to let Wilshere leave for another season on loan provided he signs a new deal. His current contract runs out next summer and he can walk away from the Emirates on a free transfer. The Gunners, already facing that scenario with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, are keen to ensure that Wilshere doesn’t slip through the net as well.

The north London club’s contract situation is in a mess which resulted in former Team Sky legal expert Huss Fahmy joining during the summer.

However, Sampdoria already bid £6m for the midfielder and he is determined to assess all of his options before committing to Arsenal.

Wilshere opted to move to the south coast last summer, preferring to work with the rising footballing star of Eddie Howe. Another highly regarded coach, de Boer previously Ajax and Internazionale, as well as being Bert van Marwijk’s assistant at the 2010 World Cup.

For Wilshere, it’s a make-or-break move. His career has been blighted by injury and he needs a full season to ensure he figures in Gareth Southgate’s plans for next summer’s World Cup.
