Done Deal: Ilkay Gundogan signs 5-year deal at Man City

Ilkay Gundogan, 25, has signed a 5 year deal at Manchester City according to reports emerging from Germany.

Gundogan is expected to be new manager Pep Guardiola’s first signing at City. For the past two seasons it has been city rivals United linked to the player, but Man City have won the race for Gundogan’s signature.

City Director Txiki Begiristain flew to Germany last week to finalise a deal, with the player agreeing terms to a 5 year £200k a week deal.

The player is expected to be a direct replacement for Yaya Toure, who is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season.

Despite Gudogan’s lengthy injury record, the player is still regarded as one of Europe’s elite midfield players. It is for this pedigree, city are willing to stump upto £30 million to acquire the German international.
