Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is ready to raid Premier League rivals, Arsenal as he looks to remodel his squad into title challengers, reports the Daily Star.
The newspaper claims the Portuguese is a keen admirer of Aaron Ramsey, 27, and with the midfielder entering the last year of his contract this summer, Arsenal might be persuaded to sell rather than see the player walk away on a free transfer in 2019.
It’s a familiar situation for the two clubs, with United taking advantage of Arsenal’s perceived weakness to snatch Alexis Sanchez, 29, cheaply. This time, the cost might be more expensive.
Chelsea are also interested in the Wales midfielder and if Arsenal are minded to sell, an auction is in their best interest, dramatically increasing the fee they will receive.
Ramsey opted for a move to the Emirates when he left Cardiff City as a teenage a decade ago, enticed by Arsene Wenger’s personal interest in his career.
Talks between his agent and the club stalled after he rejected an initial contract offer with no plans to resume them until the summer.
By then, Arsenal’s fragile managerial may be resolved one way or the other. Ramsey, one of the last of Wenger’s ‘Project Youth’ is a staunch defender of the Frenchman and it could be that his departure triggers the Welshman’s.
