Eric Bailly’s Manchester United hell is close to ending with reports emerging that Paris St-Germain are keen on landing the Ivory Coast international.

Arsenal are keen to take the 24-year-old central defender away from Old Trafford with the Daily Mail also claiming Tottenham are monitoring his situation.

Bailly was Jose Mourinho’s first signing after taking over as United boss but the £30m defender fell from grace with the Portuguese as the Red Devils defence failed to provide a solid base for progress.

So far this season, Bailly’s second at the club, the defender has played just 380 minutes of first-team football. The Ivorian felt scapegoated after being dropped from the starting line-up following the 3 – 2 defeat at Brighton.

With United actively seeking defenders this winter, Bailly’s time with the fallen Premier League giants appears to be over; the United hierarchy makes no secret that Mourinho’s task is to fund purchases through sales. Selling Bailly makes a significant contribution to that cause.

Mourinho’s options are limited by injuries to other defenders in the squad. Marcos Rojo has yet to appear for the first team this season while Phil Jones found himself similarly sidelined after the Carabao Cup defeat to Derby.
