Serie A runners-up Napoli are hunting for a new goalkeeper after Pepe Reina agreed a deal with rivals AC Milan and according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech is their target.

New Partenopei boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen to reunite with the 36-year-old stopper after the pair worked together at Chelsea between 2009 and 2011. Cech was his number one choice at the time but moved to Arsenal three years ago after making close to 500 appearances for the Blues in over a decade at Stamford Bridge.

Reports in Italy suggest the Gunners are close to landing Bayer Leverkusen stopper Bernd Leno, 26, and may be open to letting Cech leave north London on a 12-month loan deal, particularly as his contract expires next summer.

Arsenal, it’s claimed in the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, are in talks with the Bundesliga club over a €25m fee for the Germany international whose omission from the national squad for the World Cup finals raised eyebrows.

His place was taken by Paris St-Germain reserve Kevin Trapp, who will find himself behind Gianluigi Buffon next season if Napoli are successful in their pursuit of Alphonse Areola with a fee of around €25m on the cards.
